Welcome to our launch!

Hello, everyone! We are so excited to welcome you to the Washingtonville Cemetery’s new website. There are so many projects in the works for the cemetery and this website was just the starting point. We began here so that we’ll be able to share all the cemetery news with the Washingtonville community and the families of those who are interred with us.

Some quick highlights:

• Community members and organizations will be able to check our Calendar for volunteer opportunities and upcoming memorial events, like Wreaths Across America.
• We’ll be sharing interesting tidbits about those buried here with us through our Stories page.
• We have a newsletter you can sign up for that we’ll be sending out a few times a years – NO spam, promise!
• If you’re so inclined, we have a new easier way to donate financially.

Behind the scenes, we’ve had a mini-team of dedicated and hard-working volunteers that helped photograph the cemetery and update Find a Grave so that people around the world who are researching their genealogy can find their family members here in our cemetery.

We have also been working on building a complete database of those who lie within our grounds. This monumental task was built in conjunction with the photographic documentation for our Find a Grave, but also included scanning the old church ledgers, scouring through digitized newspapers, extensive researching into military collections, and compiling information provided from families throughout the years.
